
Who we are looking for
yourtown is looking for motivated and committed youth, aged between 17 and 24 years, who are genuinely interested in a career in the landscape and construction industry to join this Pre-employment program. High school students are not eligible for this program.
This 6-week program will provide you with hands on experience in carpentry and paving, plus basic skills in plant display preparation and maintenance.
Program participants need to be physically fit and must have or be working towards obtaining a driver’s licence.
Women and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
What you can achieve
Casual employment with yourtown for suitable program graduates who can obtain a Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
Nationally accredited units from the Introduction to Construction Skill Set (SSDIS02008) and an accredited unit from the horticulture training package.

- Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry (CPCCWHS2001)
- Use construction tools and equipment (CPCCCM2005)

- Undertake a basic construction project (CPCCVE1011)
- Prepare and maintain plant displays (AHCPGD208)

Participants will only be selected for the program after attending the Information and Selection Session.

ATTEND INFORMATION SESSION
Wednesday 9 April 2025, 8:45 am to 1:00 pm at TAFE SA 2 Woodford Road, Elizabeth SA 5112. Building B2, Upstairs Lecture Theatre, Room 2.07.
Literacy and numeracy testing will be conducted at this session.
Program details
WHEN AND WHERE
Training runs from Tuesday to Friday from 29 April to 06 June 2025 for 6 weeks.
Monday 28 April 2025 will be a half-day session.
Training is delivered at Tafe SA, 2 Woodford Road, Elizabeth SA 5112 and The Precinct, Smithfield Plains SA 5114.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
Program participants will be provided with personal protective equipment (PPE) and have Working with Children Checks and Police Clearances processed. Youth worker and mentoring support provided to participants throughout the program.

Nil cost.
This training is subsidised by the Australian and South Australian Governments. Eligibility criteria apply.
