Working within the Minister for Housing and Urban Development's portfolio, Renewal SA is a statutory corporation whose Chief Executive reports to the Minister and to the Board of Management.

The operations of the Board are governed by the Renewal SA Charter which is revised annually and approved and executed by the Minister for Housing and Urban Development. The Charter sets out the government's strategic objectives, priorities and focus areas of Renewal SA.
