The revitalisation of the area included construction of 429 new dwellings and three retail premises, reconfiguration of roads and creation of new public spaces.

Objectives and outcomes
First instigated in 2009 by the South Australian Housing Trust, this urban renewal project was transferred to Renewal SA in 2012.
The vision for The Square at Woodville West was to create a close and connected community by delivering diverse housing options including villas, townhouses, apartments and lofts. Each of these dwelling types showcases the highest principles of integrated urban design, while maintaining the unique character of the Woodville West area.
The project's master plan supported a broad mix of housing types to appeal to a range of households and budgets, achieving 21% affordable housing and a further 13% for social housing.
The Square at Woodville West is now home to beautifully maintained parks and open spaces, bringing together a new sense of life to this revitalised suburb.
Renewal SA is committed through projects like The Square at Woodville West, to unlock the greater potential of existing urban areas, and enhancing the distinctive South Australian lifestyle through excellence in planning and lasting quality in execution.
