About the project
Up to 1,500 dwellings will be delivered at Oakden as part of a master-planned development by Villawood Properties, unlocking enormous benefits from one of metropolitan Adelaide’s last remaining large-scale infill development opportunities.
In addition to the new homes being created, the project is supporting as many as 400 construction jobs per year and will generate an estimated $460 million in Gross State Product during its construction.
A diverse range of housing options will be available, from apartments through to traditional one, two and three-storey homes with the project centred around a new community facility with swimming pool, gym, function spaces and retail offering.
The project will also boast generous open space, while the already significant tree coverage across the site will be even further enhanced.

Stakeholders and community
In 2019, community engagement took place online, in addition to a community engagement drop-in session to provide the opportunity to review, discuss and provide feedback on the Oakden and Gilles Plains Draft Structure Plan, as well as engage directly with Renewal SA and planning consultants Holmes Dyer.
This draft plan informed the process and evaluation of the open market tender process.
As the successful developer, Villawood will now complete a more detailed structure plan to inform its overall master plan. As part of this process, Villawood consulted the community in 2022 through drop-in sessions, with community feedback helping to inform the overall master plan.
