Tonsley Solar

The project delivers on an election commitment to create a pilot program to install solar panels on 200 of our public housing stock. Recently the program was doubled to include a further 200 properties in the CBD, meaning up to 400 properties will now be part of the scheme.

The project will provide savings on residents’ annual energy bills of at least $150 each year while also giving a valuable boost to South Australian solar suppliers and installers, and supporting jobs for South Australians.

Climate Change Minister Ian Hunter said the project is an important contribution towards making Adelaide the world’s first carbon neutral city. An assessment of suitable properties is already underway in the Adelaide City Council district.

Solar suppliers and installers interested in the tender can register at the SA Tenders and Contracts website.

The tender will close on 29 April 2016 with works scheduled to start in July.
