Renewal SA in partnership with Civil Train SA, Northern Futures and WorkReady provided construction training and work experience for 14 women from the northern suburbs of Adelaide for six weeks in October and November 2015.

In addition to developing valuable on site work experience and employment contacts, they each gained a Certificate in Civil Construction as well as training in first aid and their Work Safely White Card, providing them with industry-ready qualifications.

Perhaps most importantly though, these women, many who have experience long-term unemployment, have graduated from the Women in Civil Live Site Training program proud of their accomplishments, feeling more self-confident, job-ready and hopeful about their employment future.

Following an additional period of work experience it is expected up to 70 per cent of program participants will find paid work in the construction industry.
