
Renewal SA’s Regional Key Worker Housing Scheme (RKWHS) has been announced a national finalist in the 2025 Property Council of Australia Innovation and Excellence Awards.
The scheme is delivered by the Office for Regional Housing within Renewal SA and it leverages the state government’s requirement for quality rental accommodation in South Australia for critical service workers across police, education and healthcare sectors.
The Regional Key Worker Housing Scheme was entered into the award for Product, Program or Service Innovation for, “an innovative element of a project that creates significant advancement and improvement within the property industry.”
Renewal SA has formed partnerships with councils, developers and the local construction industry to inject nearly $20 million into regional South Australian communities through the scheme.
It aims to deliver 30 homes for key workers across regional South Australia by September 2025.
Director for the Office for Regional Housing, Matthew Hunt is honoured to be named a finalist.
“Above all else I’m extremely proud of our team for their innovation and commitment shown to help housing issues across South Australia’s regions,” he said.
“The team’s constant application of new ideas and dedication to providing housing is second to none, and we hope to deliver as many as houses as possible through this scheme and others going forward.”
