The Lot Fourteen Smoking Ceremony will be held by the Kaurna Nation Cultural Heritage Association by between 9.30 and 10.00am on 26 November 2019 at Frome Park on Frome Road in Adelaide City, between Lot Fourteen and the Adelaide Botanic High School.

Premier Steven Marshall and other special guests will attend the ceremony, which will be a milestone for the Lot Fourteen project and recognition of Kaurna’s important role in its development.

It will be an opportunity for the public to join the Kaurna community in reflecting on and celebrating its continuing cultural strengths.

Lot Fourteen is the future home of the Australian Aboriginal Art and Cultures Centre and is adjacent to Karrawirra Parri (River Torrens), an important area for the Kaurna community. The neighbourhood provides new opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-indigenous people to engage in culture, build economic growth and reconcile communities.

Lot Fourteen is being developed by Renewal SA on behalf of the state government.

Under Renewal SA’s vision for reconciliation and the Lot Fourteen Cultural Heritage Management Plan, the smoking ceremony will demonstrate to Kaurna stakeholders the value placed by Renewal SA in this shared relationship and the desire to work together on the Lot Fourteen project.
