The Royal Adelaide Community Open Day will be held on the Palm House lawns in the Adelaide Botanic Garden on Sunday, 27 November from 11am to 3pm.

Renewal SA staff will be on site to discuss the $1 billion transformation of the East End site, which includes transferring more than two hectares to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and opening up 70 per cent to public use.

Detailed conversations have already begun to be held with a wide range of stakeholders including local businesses, universities, the Adelaide City Council and other organisations.

The feedback received will help to guide the creation of a Master Plan for the site, which is expected to be completed in the first half of 2017.

The state government’s preferred proposal for the site includes:

  • An education and innovation hub
  • A residential precinct
  • A culture and tourism quarter
  • An estimated 1000 construction and flow-on jobs a year during redevelopment
  • Nearly 3000 on-site jobs when complete
  • More than $1 billion in private investment
  • An estimated $7.5 billion boost to the state economy over 12 years
  • A state-of-the-art carbon-neutral precinct.
