The Oakden/Gilles Plains Structure Plan sets directions for future land use to accommodate projected population growth. At a high level, it maps where residential, retail, commercial, industrial and community uses of land could be located and the infrastructure needed to support urban development.
The Structure Plan area comprises approximately 100 hectares.
The land is located within residential, mixed use and district centre zones in the City of Port Adelaide Development Plan.
It is expected that the residential zone will need to be amended to bring the zone in line with contemporary standards. There may be opportunity for other uses currently not permitted in the mixed use and district centre zones that will be explored through the Structure Plan process.
The Structure Plan will be prepared in line with the principles of the new Community Engagement Charter developed for and overseen by the State Planning Commission.
Oakden and Gilles Plains Draft Structure Plan
On 1 June 2019, a community drop-in session was held to provide the opportunity to review, discuss and provide feedback on the Oakden and Gilles Plains Draft Structure Plan, as well as engage directly with Renewal SA and planning consultants Holmes Dyer.
