From 1 July 2018, SA Housing Authority became responsible for renewing social housing on behalf of the Government of South Australia.
The sixty-one new home, three-stage development, which commenced in 2017, will achieve an important SA government policy outcome by comprising a mix including private, market-based housing and 20 per cent affordable housing to be sold as part of the Affordable Housing Program.
The development will feature a park for community use and the provision of high amenity open space, environmentally sustainability, affordability and diversity of housing.
Redevelopment is estimated to support about 50 direct and indirect full-time jobs per year over a three-year construction period and generate investment of approximately $22 million.
Renewal SA sold the former SA Housing Trust at Marden site to River Street (SA) Nominees as the successful tenderer following a public expression of interest.
The Buildtec Group have been appointed by River Street (SA) Nominees to construct the new terrace housing and apartments for the site.
In December 2016, Renewal SA and River Street (SA) Nominees invited the local community to attend a ‘drop-in and chat’ session to gain information about the renewal of Marden, view the proposal and provide comments for consideration by the State Coordinator-General.
Submissions and feedback received from the community ‘drop-in and chat’ session was submitted in a Community Engagement Report (available below/right) along with the master plan for planning approval.
