Last Friday, 27 April 2018, the Tonsley Innovation District was awarded South Australia’s top property honour for what the Property Council of Australia described as “an approach which sets new standards for urban renewal”.

RLB’s South Australian Director, Giulio Altamura, noted, “The judges were impressed by the project’s commitment to low carbon and climate resilient infrastructure, technology and systems. These undoubtedly demonstrate innovation in urban design, governance and delivery models.”

The state award night is a prelude to the the national awards gala dinner being held at the ICC Sydney Convention Centre on Friday, 11 May 2018. Tonsley is a finalist in three national award categories:

  • Best Mixed Use Development
  • Development Innovation
  • National Development of the Year

Managed by the Property Council of Australia, the National Innovation & Excellence Awards is one of the most prestigious property awards programs in Australia, promoting excellence in design and innovation in the built environment since 1982.

The Property Council of Australia aims to showcase superior examples of iconic projects in property development and investment across a broad range of sectors and design disciplines.

Tonsley Innovation District was recognised for excellence in architectural and sustainable design excellence by winning two categories for the 2017 Good Design Awards. It also won the 2017 Urban Design Institute of Australia National Award for Excellence in the Urban Renewal category, among a number of other awards.
