Davoren Park Youth & Community Club will receive funds for a new pool table and equipment while Northern Communities of Hope will receive money towards its youth outreach program.

Along with not for profit community service and training organisation Para Worklinks Incorporated, the three organisations will share $15,608 in grants to benefit the local community.

The successful recipients for the eighth round of the Playford Alive Initiatives Fund grants are:

  • Davoren Park Youth & Community Club will receive $2,688 for a new pool table, cues, balls and equipment for their Family and Youth Drop In service
  • Para Worklinks Incorporated will receive $4,920 to establish a rain garden to be used as a teaching space for adults and young people. The money will cover the cost of buying and installing a 22,500 litre rain tank, solar pump, irrigation and other equipment. The site will be used to provide horticultural training to members of the community and for accredited training in horticulture at Certificate ll and lll levels.
  • Northern Communities of Hope will receive $8,000 to enable them to run a series of events, camps and activities for local young people. The grants will also help cover the cost of new sports equipment, table games, camping equipment and other resources for their youth outreach program.

Member for Napier Jon Gee said the funding would benefit the community through the work of the successful applicants.

“The Playford Alive Initiatives Fund has helped local community organisations grow, become more independent and sustainable while supporting projects and activities that make a positive contribution to the community,” Mr Gee said.
