Located adjacent to the Bowden Town Park at 24 Gibson Street, the display centre features a fully fitted-out 354 Bowden apartment as well as a Guild Terrace, and allows would-be purchasers an initial glimpse at what life at Bowden may be like.

“For the first time, prospective home-buyers now have the opportunity to see for themselves what contemporary, city-fringe living at Bowden looks like up close,” says Renewal SA Project Director Shane Wingard.

“The display centre showcases the fixtures and finishes used to create both types of home, allowing home-buyers to ‘try before they buy’.

“Importantly, the homes at Bowden have a minimum 5 Star Green Star rating, offering a sustainable lifestyle with a reduced reliance on cars,” Shane says.

The emerging Bowden neighbourhood is characterised by tree-lined, pedestrian-friendly streets and an enviable proximity to the train, tram and Outer Harbor Greenway (bike path).

It is also only minutes from the Adelaide CBD and some of the city’s greatest entertainment and sporting venues.

The development has seen the use of recycled materials in subtle reference to Bowden’s rich manufacturing past, which includes gasworks, brickmaking, glassworks and electrical fabrication.

In this vein, the 354 Bowden apartments have a light industrial vibe created by high ceilings and stainless steel appliances and are aimed at those who are looking for a low-maintenance lifestyle.

They feature a shared internal courtyard and other communal areas that create opportunities for neighbours to bump into one another and help foster a strong sense of community.

The Guild Terraces are Torrens-titled townhouses, which mean they are stand-alone dwellings with their own unique address. They feature an earthy, brick façade and are available with courtyards and balconies.

“Now is the ideal time to visit Bowden and experience its fresh new approach to medium-density living, which focuses on the needs of people and community wellbeing,” says Shane.

Bowden is one of Renewal SA’s flagship residential developments. The project began in 2010 and aims to turn 16 hectares of former industrial wasteland into a liveable and inclusive neighbourhood.

The Bowden redevelopment will eventually house approximately 3,500 residents across 2,400 new dwellings, of which at least 15% will be offered as affordable housing.

One-third of the Bowden redevelopment is now complete.

“We’ve already seen major changes at Bowden with the adaptive re-use of Plant 4 as a gourmet food and market destination, the creation of a vibrant town square, and Jarmer’s Kitchen opening in the heritage-listed site of the former Park View Hotel,” Shane says.

“There is no doubt that Bowden is already setting new standards in urban revitalisation and we can’t wait to take things to the next level.”

Inspection of the display centre is by appointment and can be arranged by heading to the Bowden Information and Sales Centre at 4 Third Street, Bowden, which is open seven days a week between 10.00am and 4.00pm, or by calling 1800 BOWDEN (1800 269 336).
