Christmas tree trail winds along Adelaide Riverbank
Inspired by similar creative trails in Europe and the US, the Art of Christmas will showcase the work of local artists and encourage people to spend the day on the riverbank and visit attractions along the trail, including Adelaide Oval, South Australian Museum, Adelaide Zoo and Adelaide Botanic Garden.
“The trail is part of a program of activities being held by Renewal SA aimed at boosting visitation and economic activity in the precinct between November and January, a traditionally quieter period for the riverbank.” – Riverbank Authority Chairperson, Andrew McEvoy
Following the Art of Christmas LIVE, a public event held on Saturday 25 November where the artists put their finishing touches on their prototype trees, the completed trees were installed to form the creative trail, which will wind along the banks of the River Torrens and onto the cultural boulevard of North Terrace.
Children can participate in activities such as the ‘Letter Stop’ competition. The aim of the competition is to collect a letter at each tree then rearrange them to reveal mystery words needed to enter the competition. Entrants will have the chance to win a giraffe feeding experience thanks to the Adelaide Zoo.
The Art of Christmas will feature on the Adelaide Riverbank from Sunday 26 November until the New Year and the trees will be uplit for night time viewing.
